Polynation make their return to Atomnation with a 3-tracker, titled 'Sufi'. Out May 27, this EP is inspired on a poem of Rumi, a mystic writer that lived in the 13th century. On this EP you hear three different versions of one theme - Sufi Pt I, Pt II & Pt III.
"We recorded Rumi's words with our friend Marlon Penn, he did the spoken word along with other vocal parts and pieces of guitar. In the production process we often find ourselves coming up with lots of ideas, new layers and alternate versions. By re-using the sounds as a starting point for a next track, we tried to create a journey. That's how we came up with these three songs - all have the same theme, but are based on a previous version."
Sufi is the follow up of 'Allogamy', the well received debut EP by Polynation that came out November last year. Allogamy found support by tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, XLR8R and DHA. Polynation played Best Kept Secret, Grasnapolsky and ADE. With their acoustic drum setup and a pile of synths, they perform at PITCH Festival and Secret Garden Party this summer.
I downloaded the free digital version the day it went out in January ... and finally took a big bundle 11 months after as I am still listening this incredible album!!
